Empower an Advocate · Next Step Ministries
Sponsor an advocate’s time and give women leaving domestic violence the steady, skilled support they need to rebuild their lives.
Sponsor an AdvocateAbout the Campaign
Next Step Ministries advocates do some of the most important, most invisible work in our community. They sit with women in the middle of crisis. They help survivors create safety plans, access housing, navigate protective orders, and find the courage to take their next step.
They show up — hour after hour — without judgment, without pressure, and without giving up.
This campaign asks our community to do something simple: sponsor an hour of that work. Our goal is to fund 250 hours of advocacy — enough to make a lasting difference for women and children rebuilding their lives right here in Kernersville.
The People Behind the Work
Community Advocate & Yoga Practitioner
Mari is a survivor, a trained victim advocate, and a 500-hour certified yoga teacher who supports both the emotional and mind-body aspects of healing. She is currently pursuing a degree in counseling, deepening the tools she brings to every client she serves.
Community Advocate
Rachel believes every survivor deserves to tell their story without apology. She brings a judgment-free presence to every interaction and is driven by one conviction: it only takes one person to change the trajectory of another’s life.
Why It Matters
In our own community, women and their children are navigating trauma, legal systems, housing instability, and fear — often all at once. The most dangerous moment for a survivor is often when she decides to leave. That’s precisely when an advocate’s presence matters most.

Where does my gift go?
Every dollar funds direct advocacy services at Next Step Ministries — the one-on-one time our advocates spend with survivors navigating crisis, safety planning, legal support, and healing.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Next Step Ministries is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You’ll receive a giving receipt for your records.
What does an advocate actually do?
NSM advocates provide crisis intervention, individualized safety planning, referrals to housing and legal resources, emotional support, and court accompaniment — meeting each woman exactly where she is, without judgment.
Can I give in someone’s honor?
Absolutely. When you give, you can note it in the memo field or contact us directly and we’ll acknowledge your gift accordingly.
Can I give more than $250?
Yes — and thank you. Any amount is welcomed and fully directed toward advocacy hours for women in our community. Every dollar equals two more minutes of presence for a survivor who needs it.
Next Step Ministries advocates show up every day for women who are finding the courage to take their next step. Help us fund 250 hours of that work — and give more women in our community the support they deserve.
