250 hours. 250 reasons hope wins.
Next Step Ministries advocates do some of the most important, most invisible work in our community. They sit with women in the middle of crisis. They help survivors create safety plans, access housing, navigate protective orders, and find the courage to take their next step.
They show up — hour after hour — without judgment, without pressure, and without giving up.
This campaign asks our community to do something simple: sponsor an hour of that work. Our goal is to fund 250 hours of advocacy — enough to make a lasting difference for women and children rebuilding their lives right here in Kernersville.

The People Behind the Work
They show up so she doesn’t have to face it alone.
Mari
Community Advocate & Yoga Practitioner
Mari is a survivor, a trained victim advocate, and a 500-hour certified yoga teacher who supports both the emotional and mind-body aspects of healing. She is currently pursuing a degree in counseling, deepening the tools she brings to every client she serves.
Rachel
Community Advocate
Rachel believes every survivor deserves to tell their story without apology. She brings a judgment-free presence to every interaction and is driven by one conviction: it only takes one person to change the trajectory of another’s life.
Why It Matters
Domestic violence doesn’t announce itself. Neither does the healing.
In our own community, women and their children are navigating trauma, legal systems, housing instability, and fear — often all at once. The most dangerous moment for a survivor is often when she decides to leave. That’s precisely when an advocate’s presence matters most.
NSM advocates provide:
- Crisis intervention and emotional support
- Individualized safety planning
- Housing and resource referrals
- Court accompaniment and legal navigation
- Options counseling — meeting each woman exactly where she is
- Support for children impacted by domestic violence
