Shelter Staff

Job responsibilities:
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the facility
  • Perform inspections
  • Maintain inventory lists
  • Provide emergency crisis intervention for shelter residents and the 24 hr. crisis hotline
  • Provide accurate information on agency services to all who inquire
  • Fill out resident intake information accurately & completely
  • Keep resident files up to date & accurate
  • Provide clear documentation/communication regarding any changes or immediate needs of clients in individual file
  • Communicate, distribute, & uphold all policies and procedures of current shelter handbook
  • Ability to empathize and work with abused women & children
  • Minimum of 3 yrs. experience in crisis intervention/residential setting & 2 years post secondary education in human service or related field
  • 20 hours of crisis of domestic violence training
  • Computer skills required
  • High degree of organizational skills, high sense of urgency, ability to multi-task, ability to be resourceful
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to uphold, enforce, and follow policies and procedures
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability to work in stressful conditions, maintaining professionalism at all time.
Hours:  7:00 am-3:00 pm, 3:00 pm-11:00 pm, 11:00 pm-7:00 am Weekdays and Weekends available
  • Director of Residential Services

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Residential Services reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Next Step Ministries Safe House. Responsibilities include overall management of the Safe House and supervision of Safe House staff and volunteers to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of critical service needs.


    • BA or equivalent experience in Human Services or Management Field
    • A minimum of 20 Hours of domestic violence training
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Solid written and oral communication skills
    • Experience working with individuals from diverse groups and background
    • Excellent supervisory skills
    This position is a salaried exempt position and requires the ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to meet Safe House needs.
